The State College Area School District is currently accepting applications for Elementary Dean of Students.

The District seeks student-focused educators with knowledge of both theory and practice specific to the instruction, conduct, and safety of diverse learners. Organizational and collaborative skills are critical to success in this position. The District is searching for candidates who demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development and possess various professional experiences.
The Elementary Dean of Students will report directly to the assigned Elementary Principals to support the management of behavioral issues in school that disrupt the educational experiences of other students. The candidate must possess skills and experience in the areas of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), including but not limited to, behavior management, positive school-wide behavior support (PBIS), restorative practices, and low-level student discipline. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, 1) responding to level 1 and 2 infraction referrals, 2) serving on and helping coordinate PBIS initiatives and committee work, 3) providing supervision and coverage as needed in unstructured common spaces (i.e. lunches, recesses, etc.), 4) collaborating with the principal to support students in need of a more inclusive space and assisting them with reintegration into their regular schedules, 5) Serving as a member of the buildings’ school crisis response teams, which includes being trained in Safety Care, 6) assisting the administration with IEPs, GIEPs, and 504s.
The qualified candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain PA Teacher Certification. Administrative certification is preferred. Experience working with underrepresented populations and the ability to respond to situations quickly and effectively across all school settings is preferred.
