About the Role

The Specialist Asset Contract Management works closely with the Mine Maintenance Department Contract Owners to provide high-level contract management services with a focus on contractor safe systems of work, validation of contract partner metrics and KPIs, continuous improvement and overall contract health and performance.


The Specialist Asset Contract Management is primarily focused on the operational management of Mine Maintenance contracts but does integrate with Supply business partners in sourcing activities, developing scopes of work, contract negotiations, contract variations and overall contract performance to ensure the best outcome for Mine Maintenance Departments and the Olympic Dam Asset.


This role is based at Olympic Dam and will be offered as residential 5/2 or FIFO 5/2,4/3.

In this role you will:


  • Actively monitor contractor safety performance, partnering with contractor management and personnel to influence a strong culture of reporting incidents, hazard identification and proactive resolution of safety risks.
  • Ensure timely resolution of all safety issues and provide communication and consultation of safety related matters with work teams, including contract owners, superintendents, and relevant customers.
  • Mentor contract partners at an operational level with maintaining a safe and respectful workplace with continuous engagement using field leadership and monthly onsite routines.
  • Support contract partners to develop, monitor and revise their safety plans. When required, take action to rectify poor or reversing safety trends through improvement plans and non-conformance notices.
  • Facilitate and manage monthly and quarterly contract performance review meetings.
  • Regularly review contracts to identify continuous improvement opportunities (including cost efficiencies) ensuring compliance to contract price, scope of work, and KPIs.
  • Pro-actively manage the pending expiry of contracts, ensuring there is early engagement with the contract owner, site users and Supply business partners on the preferred sourcing strategy.
  • Facilitate the development, review, and submission of operational-related contract documentation such as scopes of work and risk assessments.
  • Ensure solid record keeping is maintained using BHP systems and adhering to data privacy and commercial confidentiality requirements.
About You

  • Relevant experience in mobile and/or fixed plant maintenance and a broad understanding of the mining industry is highly advantageous.
  • Must have effective communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders from front-line through to management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of contract management and in-field engagement, with demonstrated experience in an aligned role.
  • Sound knowledge of commercial processes and negotiations.
  • Strong planning, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including the Microsoft office package. Elevated level of competency in Word and Excel.
