Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Corendon Hotels & Resorts. The franchisee controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including the selection and hiring process. If you accept a position at this hotel you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International.
JOB SUMMARY
As General Manager, you lead all departments of Corendon Village Hotel. You coach, motivate and guide Managers and guarantees the quality of the services of the hotel. You set up annual plans for the different departments, see to the proper implementation of the personnel policy and – by coming up with proposals or through new ideas – you realize progress of the Corendon Village Hotel.
The Corendon Village Hotel**** is a 680 room hotel, and consists of three building: Plaza (main building, 207 rooms), Apartments (298 rooms) and Urban (175 rooms). There are 11 meetingrooms, several restaurants, a Skybar, VPS Starbucks, Spa, fitness, swimmingpool, movie theatre and a Boeing 747-plane in the beautiful hotel garden. With around 200 employees, from 62 nationalities, in the age of 16 till 75 years, we manage to give our guest the best experience imaginable. Our guests are just as divers as our staff and our hotels, therefore ‘We welcome everyone, everywhere’ at Corendon Hotels & Resorts.
Your first priority will be to lead the transition of the Corendon Village Hotel to become a Marriott franchise hotel. The hotel consists of three buildings, each will have its own brand. The main building: Plaza will transition to a Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotel (Q4 2023). The second building: Apartments will transition to a Residence Inn by Marriott (Q4 2024) and the third building: Urban will transition to Fairfield by Marriott (Q2 2025).
JOB SPECIFIC TASKS
QUALITY & RESULTS:
- Prepares for QA audits;
- Creates and support clear lines of responsibility for management team, including coverage and oversight throughout the day;
- Acts as a project manager for the execution of capital improvements (e.g., renovations, reinventions, refreshes, signage, etc.);
- Guiding all departments within Corendon Village Hotel;
- Guiding, encouraging and coaching the employees;
- Overseeing the manner of service delivery for the creation of a ‘wow’ effect among guests;
- Monitoring the manner in which service is provided by the operation departments, and making adjustments in case of deviations;
- Maintaining and overseeing maintenance of Arbo (labour law), hygiene and safety regulations.
MANAGING PROFITABLILITY
- Responsible for the P&L of the Corendon Village Hotel;
- Responsible for the complete budget of the Corendon village Hotel;
- Making proposals for improvement of the products and services and the execution of service delivery within Corendon Village Hotel;
- Stimulating and working out ideas and proposals from managers and employees that benefit Corendon Village Hotel;
- Ensuring the representativeness of all facilities within the hotel;
- Approving quotes and external commitments and selecting and approving various suppliers;
- Ensuring (the granting of) the required permits and coordinating to this end with the designated agencies;
- Respecting, complying with, maintaining and implementing Corendon Hotels & Resorts’ CSR policy, and being able to convey this to both guests and employees;
- Manages on-property controllable costs associated with rooms, housekeeping, events, and food and beverage operations;
- Measures, analyses, and communicates property performance using a variety of financial/non-financial data including controllable costs, sales revenue, guest satisfaction, and associate engagement data;
- Updates and communicates profit forecasts to associates/managers;
- Initiates action to support property revenue and profitability goals;
- Understands how food and beverage product variability can affect profitability;
- Reviews and signs off on invoices;
- Reviews property performance on period basis with Managing Director.
MANAGING RELATIONSHIPS
- Developing, expanding and maintaining a local network;
- Representing Corendon Village Hotel on various occasions;
- Actively promoting Corendon Village Hotel;
- Managing relationships with various agencies and conducting consultations.
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
- Managing on and striving for a good relationship with and between the employees of the different departments and realizing this relationship by means of encouraging and complying with the Corendon Blue Print principle “We Welcome Everyone, Everywhere” of communication;
- Determining the desired composition of the operational teams, both qualitatively and quantitatively;
- In consultation with the HR department, approving proposals for trainings, promotion or termination;
- Assessing and encouraging employees and conducting performance appraisals and assessment interviews and making development agreements with direct employees;
- Providing and seeing to the correct implementation/enforcement of the established personnel policy within Corendon Hotels & Resorts, whereby the employee is central;
- Leads associates through property changes, and help them transition into new property roles.
- Understands the performance expectations for all positions within the property (e.g. front desk associate, gourmet attendant, etc).
- Ensures ongoing development of managers (e.g., one on one coaching, providing stretch assignments, etc.).
REPORTING & ACCOUNTING
- Ensuring adequate administration and providing the required information and (management) reports;
- Reporting, working out, explaining and accounting for results, deviations and activities for improvement of all operational departments within Corendon Village Hotel.
Next to the tasks and responsibilities as described above, we also assume that you will do other work where needed at the direction of the Managing Director when, with an eye to the nature of the company, business opportunities can thus be optimally exploited.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- At least 5 years of experience and achieved results in the tasks mentioned in this profile;
- A real leader who can lead the hotelteam, knows how to motivate it and get the best out of it;
- Experience with Marriott standards/training;
- Knowledge of the Amsterdam/Schiphol market and have an extensive network here;
- A long-term vision for your hotel, the market and the developments in it;
- Excellent communication skills; you are a real connector and networker;
- Fluent in English.
