Capital Projects IT Systems Lead for Engineering & Design
Albemarle is seeking an Engineering & Design Systems Specialist to assist in the oversight and management of the various information systems required across its capital project portfolio. This role will primarily assist project management teams by managing and maintaining support for Capital project engineering solutions and systems with high utilization thru licensing, solutions access, setup, information flow, and configuration for software across for the global project management community. Candidate should be knowledgeable in configuration and setup of various engineering design and analysis systems either on premise, hosted or SaaS environments for engineering, process, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation and controls. The successful candidate would be supporting capital projects in a portfolio that varies from small continuity capital at a site to $2 billion in total installed capital (TIC) Albemarle is on a pace of approximately 2 billion USD per year of overall capital project spending. Currently, Albemarle works with internal resources to manage the continuity capital and global EPC/CM firms for various concurrent mega-projects (over $500 million TIC) globally in China, Australia, Chile, and the US. Candidate will be an individual contributor who must work in a matrixed environment to assist the global project management community.
Responsibilities
- Assist Director to Manage licensing and utilization for the engineering solutions / software needs of the Albemarle Capital Projects Department.
- Manage user access in both SaaS on-premises and hosted configurations.
- Facilitate a Community of Practice for users of engineering design and analysis software including continuous improvement topics to prioritize and improve project engineering design and data delivery.
- Adjust and configure engineering and design standards, templates and standardize workflow and work breakdown structures for software use and improved standardization across Albemarle project portfolio.
- Establish and enforce Albemarle engineering design standards, work processes.
- Manage Solutions / software configurations and scheduled upgrades.
- Training content for engineering and design solutions
- Liaison / interface with Albemarle Corporate IT, Capital Projects and engineering and construction teams and partners.
- Travel as need for systems and project needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of engineering and design systems experience in relevant capital project related information technology support, training, and vision.
Skills Required
- Computer Proficiencies: Expertise in configuration, technical support, solutions use and training of Pipeflo, AMETank, ETAP, SysCAD, Aspen, OLI, ChemCAD CAESAR II.
- Detailed knowledge in SharePoint, Aconex, Adept, is desirable.
- General skills in Microsoft business applications are required.
- Knowledge/Skills: Must be self-motivated and possess good organizational skills. Must be able to work as part of a team. Driven by attention to details, follow high standards for accuracy and completeness. Open to feedback and have a growth mindset.
- Communication Skills: Must have analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Think out of the box about engineering and design systems data flow improvement.
- Process, Mechanical, Electrical and I&C Project Management experience, such as Project Manager, Project Engineer, etc. is a plus
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemical, Computer Sciences, Construction Management, or related Capital Project space experience.
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
- Master’s Degree in related field is a plus.
