QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in educational leadership, or related discipline;
- Minimum of two (2) years of school-based leadership experience, preferably at high school level, and/or equivalent work experience as a department chair and/or team lead;
- Bi-lingual in Spanish is required;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Florida statutes, State Board of Education regulations, and FL Department of Education policies and procedures relating to charter schools and/or public secondary-level education;
- Proven track record of strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Familiarity with assessment techniques, career-technical education, and/or project-based or service learning;
- Knowledge of best practices in education for high schools;
- Knowledge of high school and dual enrollment courses and programs;
- Experience with integrated curriculum;
- Knowledge of technology and innovative approaches in the classroom setting;
- Understanding of learning-styles theories and value of relationship-building;
- Ability to implement a supportive student environment;
- Demonstrated competence in working with special populations of students to include ESE and ESOL, minimally;
- Committed to increasing student achievement through contextual and applied curriculum and work-based learning;
- Expertise in the instructional field;
- Knowledge of career development and life planning experience;
- Knowledge in the use of a wide variety of career exploration and placement assessments, tools and resources;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Sound judgment and ability to interact effectively with students, parents and colleagues;
- Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, and other Windows based computer applications;
- This position must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for a high school administrator as established by the Florida Department of Education.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Positively representing Indiantown High School in the community;
- Serving as a professional development resource for faculty and staff;
- Making recommendations to the Executive Director concerning the school’s administration and instructional programs;
- Collaborating with teachers to ensure successful student progress;
- Preparing records and reports as assigned, including grant proposals;
- Assuming duties and responsibilities of the Executive Director in his/her absence including supervision of personnel.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in supervision, observation and development of all school personnel;
- Monitoring and facilitating student progress;
- Developing, managing, and supervising school activities, programs, clubs, organizations, field trips, speakers, school pictures, and community involvement activities;
- Assisting with learning activities;
- Planning, coordinating, and implementing professional development for faculty and staff;
- Assisting in establishing guides for proper student conduct and maintaining student discipline;
- Assisting with Spanish language translations in spoken and written communication;
- Facilitating communication between IRSC instructors and IHS dual enrollment students;
- Assisting in coordinating appropriate services for exceptional students;
- Supporting the implementation of appropriate career exploration assessments, resources and tools;
- Assisting with data collection and analysis for school improvement and Cognia accreditation;
- Serving as Building Manager to develop, train, practice, and maintain school and bus safety procedures;
- Coordinating HIS building usage, arranging facilities and technical needs to host events for HIS partners;
- Managing, maintaining, and updating handbooks, forms, and procedures for the faculty drive and website;
- Conducting faculty meetings and student/parent conferences as assigned and in collaboration with team members;
- Communicating with students and parents to ensure compliance with graduation requirements;
- Assigning training component numbers, reporting professional development to the District, and monitoring teacher certification;
- Assisting teachers in developing and maintaining strong instructional programs;
- Observing, mentoring, and evaluating instructors to promote student success;
- Acting as a liaison between the school and the various school communities;
- Supervising and updating the IHS website;
- Providing students, parents, and staff with current school information, through avenues such as school announcements, school newsletters, phonemaster, and electronic communication;
- Completing other duties and assuming such other responsibilities as the Executive Director may assign.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present verbal lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
