Purpose
In order to meet the goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and achieve other targets under the UN SDG17, the financial services industry is going to need to transform how they are doing business.
At EY, we define Sustainable Finance as any form of financial service that incentivises integration of long-term environmental, social and governance criteria into business decisions to provide more equitable, sustainable and inclusive benefit for clients and society; All of our basic FSO consulting services will likely have elements of Sustainability/ESG/Climate in the future, given the pervasive nature of the market and regulatory trends. In ASEAN, or more specifically Singapore, EY has a long history and deep expertise in a number of ESG/Sustainability related topics, including a broad-based set of deep capabilities in CCaSS (Climate Change and Sustainability Services) team (notably on TCFD reporting and carbon footprinting).

This role aims to close a gap in the FSO consulting space in Singapore, ASEAN and beyond at the intersection of CCaSS and the various consulting services (Business Consulting, Technology Consulting, Strategy & Transactions) on this topic. The overarching aim is to provide connectivity across different parts of the firm, build expertise in the business consulting staff, develop client value propositions and solutions, develop sustainability consulting services, extend and nurture partnerships with external vendors & suppliers, and ensure that we can execute projects in consulting without solely relying on CCaSS leadership and teams to drive them.
Summary of role
This role reports to the Head of Business Transformation in Business Consulting. The Director will oversee a portfolio of projects and project leads related to sustainability and ESG, including Climate Change, and drive our go-to-market strategy. This role will be one of the senior business consulting lead on sustainability/ESG/climate change related topic within FSO, therefore requiring Financial Services, Consulting and Sustainability expertise and experience. The level of seniority required is commensurate with Director level – requires the ability to represent the firm with C-Suite client contacts, the ability to relate specific regulations or global trends to the client’s strategy, actively contribute to company IC development and representation in the market and generate business. She/he will be responsible for the end to end delivery of projects within their portfolio from the planning and requirements phase to project delivery and closure while ensuring the project delivers significant business value. Time, budget and quality are key performance indicators of delivery. We expect the director to supervise a number of staff required through engagements (manager, associate level), to support business development and build up capacity within the wider consulting staff through training.
Sustainable Finance is a transformative theme, touching product design, strategy, value proposition, credit processes, technology (data solutions, vendor selection, system design), finance (reporting, funding) and risk management (analytics, governance, processes). We expect this role to cover all elements from a consulting perspective, bringing together specialist consulting expertise from our service lines and competencies, and collaborating heavily with CCaSS and SaT on go-to-market initiatives and project execution.
