Whakaata Māori is seeking an experienced, proactive and positive person to provide administrative support to our Tāhuhu Rangapū team.This exciting full-time role will see you responsible for providing administrative support and ensuring the smooth functioning of our office. The role requires some flexibility with travel and work outside of core business hours required.
He aha te mahi | What will you be doing?
- You will organise and support the daily operations of the office including hosting manuhiri (visitors)
- Provide administrative support across the office operations
- Be responsible for meeting and event support as required including – scheduling, invitations, agendas, meeting records and following up action points.
- Manage documents and develop and distribute meeting packs for our Executive leaders in a timely manner.
- Provide cover for our Ringa Awhina Tāhuhu and the Events and Travel Coordinator as required.
Kei te rapu mātou i ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | We’re looking for someone with:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
- a National Certificate Level 5 or equivalent/body of knowledge in administration, EA/PA or related field
- passion and commitment to provide excellent support services
- strong organisational, planning and multitasking skills
- great attention to detail who takes pride in their work
- comfortable in working in a kaupapa Māori environment and with experience of te ao Māori me ngā tikanga Māori
- the ability to manage multiple pieces of work at once and work successfully as part of a team
- an aptitude for Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and email platforms.
- fluency or commitment to active learning in te reo Māori, written and verbal

I rewa i te tau 2004, he hua nō te whakaū a te Karauna i ōna haepapa hei tautoko i te rāngai pāpāho Māori hei whakatairanga i te reo me ngā tikanga Māori, he mārama ngā mahi a Whakaata Māori hei tautoko i ngā mahi whakarauora a te motu, e whakatinanatia ana i tēnei wā i raro i te Maihi Karauna (te rautaki whakarauora reo a te Karauna). Ka orua mai ko ngā mahi a Whakaata Māori i ngā hapori hei whakarauora i te reo Māori hei reo ora e kōrerotia ana e ngā whānau, ngā iwi, ngā hapū, ngā hapori reo Māori, ngā āpiti hoki puta noa i te motu. Ko ngā mahi ā-hapori nei ka whakatinanatia i raro i te Maihi Māori (te rautaki reo Māori a ngāi Māori, ngā iwi me ngā hapū).
About Whakaata Māori
Whakaata Māori plays a unique role in supporting the revitalisation of te reo me ngā tikanga Māori. Launched in 2004, as a result of the Crown recognising its responsibility to support Māori broadcasting to promote te reo me ngā tikanga Māori, Whakaata Māori plays a clear founding role in supporting national efforts in revitalisation, which today is captured in the Maihi Karauna (Crown strategy for te reo revitalisation). At the same time, Whakaata Māori plays an important role supporting community-level efforts to revitalise te reo Māori as a thriving language used by whānau, iwi, hapū and te reo speaker communities and stakeholders across the country. These community-level efforts are expressed in the Maihi Māori (the Māori, iwi and hapū strategy for te reo revitalisation).
